Cateye HL-EL135 and OMNI 3: the current position

Cateye describes the current HL-EL135 as a three-LED, AA-battery commuter safety light with two modes and a FlexTight bracket. The current OMNI 3 rear uses three LEDs, AAA batteries, three modes and a bracket plus clothing clip.

These are modest visibility lights rather than high-output trail lights. The current product pages should be used for runtime, mounting diameter and water-resistance information.

What has changed

The old EL135/TL150 kit and the current EL135/OMNI 3 kit share the front-light name but use different rear lights. Do not transfer the older rear light's runtime, modes or bracket details.

Replaceable batteries can be convenient on long journeys, but battery contacts and spares need active management compared with a rechargeable set.

How it works and who it suits

This set is most appropriate on lit urban roads and as a dependable backup. For unlit roads, choose a front lamp whose controlled beam and output are designed to illuminate the route at riding speed.

Aim the front light down, keep lenses clean, check both lights before every night ride and carry spare cells.
