A US company has invented a pair of motorised shoes which they say will help pedestrians get to their destinations faster and have more fun.
The shoes, branded as SpnKIX (commonly miss referred to as spinkix) are the invention of Peter Treadway of Action Inc., based in Los Angeles, California. They were apparently a reaction to the lack of parking space in the city.
The invention was being touted at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas as a potential ‘wearable mobility’ solution for commuters
So, how do these motorised shoes compare to the humble bicycle which has served commuters very well for 150 years? Unlike a bike they need to be recharged, so will require electricity.
We were also wondering where a commuter using these shoes would travel – on the road or on the pavement? Surely mixing with pedestrians could be a bit dangerous – although we’re not sure of SpnKIX top speed. On the other hand, passing through traffic could be highly dangerous. This is surely not a replacement for cycling to work.
What do you think of this new invention? Will you be swapping your bike for motorised shoes?
